The Broad Street Incident May 14, 2017

In nearly 14 years behind the camera I've seen many good and bad events. This one was not a good one. The events I describe were random and uncalled for. No names will be mentioned though I personally know the female involved.

I was out doing a nightlife photography outing on Broad Street in Augusta. I ran across a group of people looking like they were having a good time, among them was a couple I happen to know. We had fun in front of the camera, and nothing occurred to me anything was a miss.

All of the sudden one male in a white shirt nutted up and punched the young couple from behind as I was preparing to photograph them. I was looking through my aperture so I had only tunnel vision. At first I'm thinking someone was just cutting up, but the young lady takes off like a deer after him and they even leaped over the wall bordering the broad street parking lot in the middle of the street. This happened in a matter of 3-5 seconds, a pointless assault of a young couple. It seemed to take about 10 minutes for Richmond county to arrive and confusion only thickened as I realized this guy was friends with the others who were posing for me seconds earlier. Making this a very random attack.

The results was no arrest and a lot of confusion I'm still not quite sure about today. But I wrote this just to discuss how pointless some events are and reflect. I have never had a subject attacked right in front of me, this was very shocking.
